Jeremy Patton Acosta, a 2016 graduate of Cotulla High School, plans to use his scholarship to attend Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, where he's studying biology and plans to become a pediatric nurse.

“I love working with children and have a strong passion for the science and medical field,” he said. “Eventually, I do want to return to college to further my education to become a pediatrician.”

Nominated by his physics teacher, Karrie Thomas, Acosta would be the first person in his family to attend college. “Jeremy is highly motivated to succeed in college and clearly has his priorities in the right place.” Raised by his grandmother, he was involved in many extracurricular activities in high school. Including UIL academics, National Honor Society and Student Council. “He was always eager to stand out by turning in work a cut above the rest.”
