Clarencia Weeks
Prairie View A&M University

Weeks, a 2010 graduate of Rice High School in Rice CISD, received one of the first TCTA scholarships in fall 2010. She attends Prairie View A&M University, where she is pursuing a degree in accounting. Her TCTA scholarship was renewed for 2011-12, 2012-13 and 2013-14.

“Being awarded this scholarship helped me pay for my tuition and books, and it helped my mother out greatly with paying for my schooling,” she wrote in her renewal application.

Weeks plans to become a certified public accountant. “Clarencia compares the trials in her life to a test in calculus, believing that she can pass as long as she puts in a lot of effort and devotes enough time to completion of the task,” wrote TCTA member Jewel Coreathers, the Rice High School teacher who nominated Weeks for her original TCTA scholarship.

“She is determined to be successful by changing the things that she is capable of changing in order to be a ‘winner.’”
