Jordan Ferguson, a 2013 graduate of Wylie High School, is using his $1,000 scholarship to study business at Texas A&M University-Commerce. A member of the American Student Dental Association, he would like to someday own his own dental and orthodontic practice. His TCTA scholarship was renewed for 2014-15.

“Once I have my dentistry practice up and running successfully, I would like to travel to South America or other parts of the world and take some time to serve as a voluntary dentist to help those in need of dental work,” he wrote in his application.

TCTA member and Wylie High School counselor Terri Christensen nominated Ferguson for the scholarship. “Jordan has life in perspective,” she wrote in her nomination. “He has an established moral code. He understands the benefits of hard work. He is self-motivated. He has a great compassion and tolerance for people. In addition, Jordan is very intelligent and a very talented musician. I have no doubt that he will persevere and make the most of every opportunity that comes his way.”
