Lacy Branstetter
Groveton ISD
Le Cordon Bleu

Branstetter, who comes from a financially struggling single-parent household, is the first in her family to pursue higher education, and she is doing so with her $5,000 TCTA scholarship.

“I have known Lacy for the past five years. … I saw her come to school with a smile on her face and never complain,” wrote Deborah Queen, the Groveton ISD family consumer science teacher who nominated Branstetter for the scholarship. “The reasons [I’m] nominating Lacy for this scholarship are that she’s a hard worker, mentor, positive example, and she perseveres.”

Branstetter says that owning her own bakery has been a dream of hers, and after graduating from Le Cordon Bleu in Austin, Texas, she plans to work her way up in the culinary field until she can do so.
